Our Team

Our Team

We have a dedicated team of clergy, lay leaders and church officers who help our Ministry Area to grow and thrive.

Ministry Area Leader

Revd James Henley

James is our Ministry Area Leader, responsible for overseeing all we do and leading our Ministry Team. He is married to Amy, with two daughters: Evie, who is 7, and 1 year old Thea. Before moving to Cyncoed in November 2017, James served his curacy in Newport where he was involved for ten years in developing The Lab, a fresh expression of Church amongst young people and young adults. Having previously achieved professional accreditation as a youth & community worker,…

Revd John Thorne

Following his ordination in June 2019, John now serves on our ministry team as Curate. Until recently, John was co-chair for many years of the Cardiff East Ecumenical Mission Partnership, and still acts as Chair of the Churches Together Shop at the Maelfa Shopping Centre. During his spare time, John also enjoys quality time with his family, studying, reading and walking.

Sharon Jenkins

Sharon is our Administrator & Office Co-ordinator, so chances are that if you call or pop into the office it will be Sharon you speak to! She is a Cardiff girl born and bred, having lived in the city virtually her whole life. She has recently completed a Theology Graduate Diploma with Westminster Theological Centre, and, in addition to her role with us, works part-time with two charities supporting vulnerable women with varying needs in the community.
Ministry Area Warden

Sue Fergusson

Sue is our Ministry Area Rector’s Warden, as well as a warden at All Saints Cyncoed. She has been part of the congregation in Cyncoed for 43 years, serving as a Chorister, and a member of Ladies Forum and Mother’s Union, as well as often acting as verger for baptisms, weddings and funerals. Now retired from a teaching career in both higher and secondary education, Sue can often be found in the Ministry Area office on a Friday or in church…

Rhys is one of two Ministry area wardens and shares a responsibility for the life administration and progress within the MA, working closely alongside the clergy. Rhys enjoys supporting specific projects within the community and MA and is the driving force behind the MA men’s group. This means Rhys can usually be found in the kitchen, heading up the catering using skills from his professional career in hospitality. When not covered in food, Rhys can be found assisting in All…
