What’s today about?
What are some things you know you should do; that are right things to do? Try to list them or write them down.
Now imagine if someone told you not to do them? Would you?
In our story today, God friend Daniel is told that he should not pray to God anymore otherwise he would be in big trouble – being fed to lions kind of trouble! Daniel knew what the right thing to do was. Would he give in and not pray, or would he pray?
We are going to hear from the Bible, pray, explore what it means to us, and have a song as well.
Hearing from the Bible!

Craft – LIONS
Daniel faced the Lions who were meant to gobble him up for doing the right thing! But God stepped in to help.
Sometimes doing the right thing can be hard because others are not doing it. If you know something is wrong you should do what is right.
Make a Lion, and think about a time when you knew you needed to do the right thing even if it was hard.
Things you Need:
- Paper plate/circle of card
- yellow paint or pens, pencils and crayons.
- paint brush
- brown, yellow and orange construction paper
- scissors (parental supervision)
- black marker
- googly eyes work well for this you can swap them for paper or drawn on.
What to do:
Follow the instructions below or watch the video.

Game – Darius Says (Reverse Simon says)
Daniel had a choice to follow God or follow Darius. He chose to follow God – what he thought was right to do. Darius was a strong king who had the power to kill anyone who disobeyed him. It was a tough choice Daniel had to make, but he decided to do what he knew was right. It is unlikely that we would be faced with these types of choices, but making the right choice can sometimes be puzzling.
How easy is it to do the right thing? Even when others do differently?
Things Needed for the game:
- Two or more people
What to do:
Pick a leader to be Darius
They then need to say ‘Darius says’ and do an action
You need to do a different action to what Darius says
If the leader doesn’t say ‘Darius says’ then you need to do the same action as the leader.
You are out if you do the same action when the leader says Darius says. Or do a different one when the leader doesn’t say Darius says.
Think: Have you ever worried about a choice you need to make? What helped you make the choice?
